The frames are delivered and installation has commenced

This morning I drove past to find that our frames had been delivered and ready for the guys to install. I was expecting to see them already started, but at least they were on site and ready to go. It was nice to see a couple of tradies on our slab, perhaps unbundling the frames ready to commence.

When J took a drive past about 50 minutes later they had started to construct our beautiful home.

I couldn't help myself so I took a drive out the estate in my lunch break to take a look for myself (and take a few photos too).

I am excited to see it with the roof on.....hopefully tomorrow.

Our SS advised us today that he is trying to source a bricklayer to commence the bricks next Wednesday 2nd July. If he can't find anyone to start, he will get the roof installed. He tells us that he prefers to do the bricks before the roof. Fingers crossed he has someone lined up for us!

We have a camera

The electricity box was installed today, along with a camera overlooking our block.

We also received news today that our CSA was leaving Eden Brae Homes. It is sad to see Natalie go, she has been a fantastic CSA but hoping that our newly assigned CSA will be able to fill Natalie's shoes without any troubles. We were happy to receive an email from her this afternoon introducing herself, so that is a positive sign.

A little progress

My lovely neighbour who has a camera installed and working on her block informed me today that there was a tradie working on our slab today. I think he was doing some electrical wiring.  It's good to see them hard at work :)

External drainage done

Our SS sends us an email every Monday morning to advise us of what they will be doing during the coming week. This week were were informed that the external drainage would be done on Thursday, with frames to be delivered on Monday.

I drove past this morning and was surprised to see the tradesmen hard at work digging around our slab ready to install the external plumbing. They are a day early but I am not complaining.

We have a slab!!!

It has been 1 year, 11 months and 10 days since we put down our deposit but today we have finally had our slab poured!  You can't really fully comprehend how one can feel such joy in seeing a slab of concrete until you go through the process.

I was hoping to see them pour the concrete and did my usual drive by at 8am. However, this morning it was extremely foggy and to my disappointment a truck had just finished pouring the cement and was pulling out of the lot.  However, the excitement of it actually happening outweighed the disappointment and I couldn't wait to come back after work to view the finished product.

I was surprised at how long it actually takes to pour a slab but the guys were working on it all day. They were still there, finishing up at 5:10pm when I drove past on my way home.

Here are a few photos.

And so it begins.....

On Friday afternoon, I received an email from our CSA advising us that we had been released to construction and that work would commence in the next day or so.  I don't need to tell you how happy this made me feel. It was a perfect start to our weekend.

There was no work happening on Saturday so Monday would be the big day.

So today, before heading to work I took a drive past the estate and to there it was, the big digger digging up our land. What an exciting and happy feeling to see work commence after years of waiting.

When I went back past the estate this afternoon, the gates were locked so I couldn't get in and take a photo of the finished product.

The finished product (photos taken on Tuesday morning)

Our SS also made contact today to inform us that they had commenced preparation of our block for the slab to be laid next Thursday. In my head I thought....next Thursday...why is it going to take over a week for the slab to be laid? Oh well. I shouldn't complain. At least it is all happening for us now.
