An update on the tiling

The tiler came back today to continue with the tiles in the wet areas.  He has done a great job so far, has been very co-operative and has even asked us how we want things to be done. He says he would rather us be happy with the finished job.

The floor tiles look amazing so far and will be even better once grouted. The feature tile has not been done yet. He says he will be back next week to lay them and finish off.

Here is a few pics of the job to date.

Painting has commenced

The painting has officially started. After the demonstration on Wednesday, the painters have returned today to continue the job.  So far, they have completed one coat of paint to the walls, skirting, architraves and ceilings.

I am very happy with the colour, although it is lighter than I though. However, with the second coat I am sure it will be a little darker. I think it is actually a good contrast with the floor tiles, which are darker than what I anticipated. But so far, I am loving everything that I see.

Photos as promised

Here are some photos of our stone bench tops as promised. The lighting was not the best as it has been overcast and raining for a week.

An update on the tiling

J & I dropped in at the house this afternoon to check on the progress of the tiling, and to our surprise, our tiler had actually done most of the floors in both bathrooms.  It is looking pretty awesome too, if I may say so myself.

What happened to the painting?

Our SS informed J yesterday afternoon that our painting was to commence tomorrow. He said that a Taubmans rep was going to be meeting all of the supervisors and painters at our house to demonstrate how they should be doing the painting by applying the first coat of paint, as apparently the painting hasn't been done properly.

I drove past this morning at 8:00am to see our bedroom full of people.  Once I got to work I logged onto the internal camera and could see them going from room to room, and eventually some kind of painting taking place.

However, when J dropped in on his way home, there has only been a wall in the entrance and a wall in the bedroom which has been painted.
J said the paint colour was quite light, so we are not sure if it was only a base coat done.  We will have to wait and see.

Also, according to J, the tiler managed to tile the shower floor in the main bathroom today. Wow, he really outdid himself!  I hope he picks up his act and becomes a little more productive.  In saying that, I think our tiler covered over our camera this afternoon. It was taking photos up until 1:36pm and then at 1:51pm it seemed to have been covered over.  Fast forward to 4:14pm and it was working again. The funny thing is, the tilers' equipment had not moved all day. So, what does that tell you?

The tiling continues

The tiler managed to get the screeding done on the main bathroom and laundry today. He has placed a broken tile down on the bedroom floor so I am able to see what it will look like once laid. It is really dark, much darker than I remember or imagined it to be. It has been raining for the past week so it is extremely overcast outside and I am hoping that with more light it won't seem so dark.

The people who installed the bench top had to walk over the screeding and they have left little indentations. Hopefully this won't cause any dramas.

Photos to come.

Stone benchtops

I was extremely surprised and excited to see (via the internal camera) that our kitchen, laundry, ensuite and bathroom stone bench tops have been installed.

I can't wait to go past and have a look this afternoon.

I will post some photos once I can get inside and take some.

Wet area tiling has commenced

The tiling to our wet areas commenced today. However, in one full day, all he managed to do was the screeding to our ensuite floor. This is a little disappointing considering he was meant to start last Thursday.

We have one guy doing the job so at this rate, it's going to take some time :(

Power point cut outs

Another thing that I forgot to mention that happened yesterday was the cut outs in the kitchen for the power points.

When the roughin was done, we noticed that they were positioned differently at either end of the cook top run. The electrician said this would be corrected. However, they did the cuts outs yesterday, and to our surprise, they were not positioned identically like we wanted.

J called SS (he must be getting sick of us by now) to advise him. He said he would get it sorted so that the glass splashback is done correctly.

Fingers crossed it all works out in the end.

Baby Steps

Our range hood was delivered to the house on Tuesday and our tiles arrived on Wednesday morning.
Wednesday the range hood was installed (a little crooked too, J measured it and it is 6mm out) That is it for the past two days.

This morning I noticed on our internal camera that the missing laundry cabinets were being installed. I was expecting to see some tilers there today getting on with the tiling to the bathrooms and laundry but as yet there has been no sign of them.

J is going to meet with someone at the house today to measure up for our plantation shutters and roller blinds. By getting the windows measured now, we should be able to have the blinds installed just after handover.

I will post a couple of photos of the range hood tonight.

Our kitchen, vanities and laundry cabinets are in....

This has got to be the most exciting day so far. Our kitchen is to be installed today. It has rained all night and is still raining today, but thankfully the rain doesn't delay internal installations!

The Fab Kitchens truck turned up at around 8:00am this morning and by 2:30pm the kitchen, two bathroom vanities and the laundry cabinetry was completed and the fitters had packed up and left.

I did notice though that they forgot to install the overhead cabinets in the laundry so J has put in a call to our SS who is going to sort it out.

That's our range hood in the box...to be installed soon.

Waterproofing

The water proofer was at our house at 6:45am to continue with the water proofing that he started yesterday afternoon.  Within two hours, the job was complete.

Here are some pics of his handiwork.

We have doors!

Our skirting, architraves and doors were installed today. The waterproofing is scheduled for tomorrow. Thankfully our SS managed to sort out an issue we had with the size of the bath and shower niches (which originally I thought would hold up the waterproofing) so we are still on track.

Kitchen and bathroom vanities have been scheduled for next Monday with wet area tiling to commence on Thursday.
